THE ASCENT OF the MT.ELBRUS FROM THE NORTH (EAST-WEST SUMMITS - “CROSS”)
with descent to the settlement Terskol

The route combines trekking of average level of difficulty and ascent to both tops of the Elbrus. The way is laid in seldom visited places on the territory of two republics – Karachevo-Chercessia and Kabardino-Balkaria from the North to the South. These places almost untouched by civilization, because of absence of roads and crowds of visitors. There are well-known mineral springs of Dzhily-Su. When you ask question "What they treat of?“ usually you receive the answer "Of everything!". The route begins at so-called Karachay springs of Dzhily-Su.
The 1st day. Meeting at the airport of Mineralnie Vody. Transfer to Pyatigorsk. Accommodation in Intourist hotel
The 2nd day. The things which are not necessary on a route are to be packed into a separate pack, are sealed up and given to the representative of company under his protection.
Transfer to the start point of the route. The last part of the way from settlement Hurzuk to a parking place might be impossible for cars, therefore it is passed by trekking. Overnight in the camp in the valley of the river of Bityuk-Tyobe-Kol.
The 3rd day.Acclimatization trek to the pass Ozernij (3700m). Overnight in the camp.
The 4th day. Trek with bivouac to the pass Balk-Bashi (3700m). Overnight in the camp
The 5th day. Descent to the plateau Irakhit-Sirt. Trek to the North side of Elbrus. Overnight in the camp
The 6th day. Ascent to the moraine (3800m) higher than Northern shelter. Overnight in the camp
The 7th day. Acclimatization trek to the Lencz's Rocks (4500m). Return to the camp
The 8th day. Rest day. Excursion to the “Mushrooms” glade. Overnight in the camp
The 9th day. Trek with bivouac to the Lencz's Rocks (4850m). Overnight in camp
The 10th day. This is an extra day ("the reserve day") for the case of bad weather
The 11th day.* Early trekking with bivouac. Ruckzacks are to be left at the saddle of Elbrus. Climb the top (tops) of Elbrus depending on the condition of group and weather condition as well. Descent to the valley of Baksan river (to the south). Spending the night on descent in camp on the slope of Elbrus or in a shelter in the valley.
The 12th day *This is an extra day ("the reserve day") for the case of bad weather
The 13th day* Descent to the valley. Accommodation in the hotel. The things left under protection in the first day, are delivered to a place of descent of group. Day of rest. Farewell dinner.
The 14th day* Depature day.
* In case of long bad weather or unwillingness of group to descent to South side it is possible to descent back to North side (on a glade Surkh) with a further transfer to Pyatigorsk.
The decision to continue the climbing by above described route has to be made by group the day before (not later than the 10th day) UNANIMOUSLY. Otherwise it is possible to choose easier option of descent to North side.

The 11th day.Early starting the ascent. Ascent to the top (tops) of Elbrus. Descent to the camp back to North side
The 12th day Descent to the valley Surkh, rest . Farewell dinner.
The 13th day Transfer to Pyatigorsk. Accomodation in hotel
The 14th day Depature day
Tour cost includes:
- Transfer from Mineralnie Vody to Pytigorsk and back

Tour cost doesn’t include:
- lunches and dinners in Pyatigorsk
- additional services on a glade Surkh: bath, satellite phone
- it is probably necessary to pay for stay in the territory of National park "Prielbrusye" - 1000 rub per pax
- rent of personal mountaineer's equipment, tent for trekking
- optional excursions
The program is planned for the strong groups therefore start dates of the program and possible updating of the program, are coordinated with each group.
